Do you know the history of Petoskey State Park? If you don’t, I will tell you. The land originally belonged to the Ottawa Indians. The W.W. Rice Company was built on the same land later on. When Petoskey (the city) bought the land in 1934, they named it Petoskey Bathing Beach. About 34 years later (in 1968), the State of Michigan bought the land from the city of Petoskey. Later it became Petoskey State Park. Petoskey State Park wasn't open to campers until 1970.
Petoskey State Park is located on the north end of Traverse Bay! Petoskey State Park is a gorgeous site to visit and a great destination for winter or summer! If you want to visit, Petoskey State Park is twenty nine dollars per night to stay there! There isn’t a specific time of the year that’s best. Winter or summer, both seasons have great and fun activities that everyone will have a blast doing! If you like to ski or snowboard, this is definitely the place for you in the winter because they have great snow courses and slopes for skiers and snowboarders!
